Crystal Chun, DDS
Dr Crystal Chun, DDS was born and raised in Naperville, Illinois.
She attended University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, earning a degree in Community Health and Health Administration. She completed a Master of Science in Biotechnology at Rush University in Chicago. After applying and interviewing for dental school programs, Dr. Chun embarked on the most adventurous job opportunity as she bought a one-way ticket to live in Bogota, Colombia. She worked for a nonprofit organization as their Mobile Dental Missions Coordinator and organized dental brigades to provide dental care to underserved and indigenous communities throughout Colombia.
Dr. Chun returned to Chicago for dental school at UIC where she discovered her passion for periodontal surgery and completed residency in May 2024. During residency, she was chosen as a finalist to present her master’s thesis research on head and neck squamous carcinoma in the AADR/IADR Hatten competition.
Dr. Chun is fluent in Spanish and Korean and loves studying languages – she is deciding which new language to learn next! In her free time, she enjoys visiting her family, spending time with her grandparents, and traveling. Her newest hobbies are biking on the lakefront, cooking new recipes, and taking tennis lessons.
